When sizing your horse there is a “Industry Standard”. This is usually used for hoods, boots and bridles etc.
Over 90% of horses that take a 6’0 Rug we would recommend a Cob (medium) hood, but in the case of a different type such as a larger Warmblood or Thoroughbred they would need a Full (large) hood for the length and a better fit.
If your horse takes a 6’3 Rug we would generally suggest a Full (large) hood, but in the case of a “Quarter horse Type’ with the solid stockier frame; they could need a smaller hood size to accommodate for the shorter neck and smaller face but a larger rug size for the extra room for the more muscular body.
This is only a guide, sizing may vary with the different types of horses.
